An intimate portrait of a western Buddhist teacher, Ruth Denison, and her meditation center, “Dhamma Dena” in the Mojave Desert of California. For over forty years Ruth taught Vipassana meditation around the world. Ruth (born in Germany in 1922) was especially known for her work with trauma. Through her compassion, wisdom, and clarity of mind she helped thousands of people to heal their heart and mind, and encounter their inner demons. We see an exceptional woman, who with her husband made their homes into an open meeting place frequented by beat poets, filmmakers, Timothy Leary and the likes. The film unfolds as a meditation that allows us to experience the silence and slow pace of the Mojave Desert, to feel the inter-connectedness of all life and to become part of this “Silent dance”.
