A short film on the life, work and philosophy of Joseph Beuys. Beuys was one the most important figures in art in the second half of the twentieth century, whose work was embedded in his vision of EURASIA, reflecting a spiritual and cultural merging of East and West. ‘Beuys Frames’ is not a diachronic history of Joseph Beuys, but has the structure of a dream. In the process of the dream the actions are relived by free associations. The film was realized with archive material of actions, performances, interviews and debates, sourced from original videos, photographs and television footage. The music of Satie and Webern, two composers loved by Beuys, plays a vital role. The film aims to promote the concept of ‘Living Sculpture’ that permeated Beuys’ life. Beuys was a true visionary, foreseeing many of the current social, humanitarian and cultural issues in the world. Destruction of nature, wars, terrorist attacks – Joseph Beuys foresaw some of our most evil afflictions and suggested possible solutions.
